Not much action in the last couple of days. I did send off an email to Duke thanking them for their helpful catalogue of Greek mss and with some corrections and suggestions that I had noticed. Got a solid reply:
Dear Dr. Head,
Thank you for the information you provide below. I appreciate your time
and effort to provide this information.
Sincerely,
Janie C. Morris
Research Services Librarian

Of course the state of my lists is still pretty basic!

Also noticed that the Muenster up-date to Aland's 1994 Kurzgefasste Liste has been itself up-dated and includes a range of new material:
P116 (and a new bit of P56); 0310 [it doesn't yet include my mss up to 0315]; 2877 [this includes 9 new ones from Athos - funny that they have only been catalogued and found now; perhaps there is a story there]; lect 2432 [also loads from Athos].

Notes I've been able to add material from Trinity College (which has M.R. James' catalogue on line) and the K.W. Clark ms collection at Duke (which has some marvellously full descriptions of NT manuscripts).

Also came across Stephen Carlson's page on Gal MSS: http://www.mindspring.com/~scarlson/tc/galmss.htm (looks like it summarises some useful info here; must check into the bigger project at some point!)

New Links Observant readers (if there are any), will notice the new links to lists of NT manuscripts. One of the main aims of this blog is to help up-grade and up-date these lists.

At a meeting with his cardinals, archbishops and heads of episcopal conferences to celebrate 25 years as pope, John Paul II said: "The courage to proclaim the Gospel must never fade ... Furthermore, it must be our main commitment until the final breath, faced with an ever-renewed dedication."

He gave senior cardinals a crucifix, and the others 'received a reproduction papyrus from the Bodmer collection containing a passage from the Bible in early Greek script, the original of which is contained in the Vatican museum.' (IAfrica.com)

This refers to P72 (P. Bodmer VII, VIII). 1 & 2 Peter were given to the Vatican, presumably by Bodmer himself. But what is the catalogue reference in the Vatican?

P39, an early fragment of John's Gospel, written in one of the most beautiful of all scripts, was sold in June 2003 (a theological college in financial trouble was unloading some of its treasures, including manuscripts it was given gratis by the Egypt Exploration Society) at Sotheby's in New York: http://search.sothebys.com/jsps/live/lot/LotDetail.jsp?sale_number=N07914&live_lot_id=97 (with a nice photo and some bibliog.).

I actually heard about this sale some months beforehand from a friend who was acting as a consultant to Sotheby's. His estimate (which I had thought generous enough) turned out to be low as it sold for $400,000.

Anyway the sale may not be all done and dusted judging from a news report from Ohio: http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/news/7017285.htm

One hopes it will end up in a good home.
